Gunnison National Forest, Colorado

West Elk Loop Byway and Black Canyon of Gunnison National Park are beautiful spots to visit. Late September into late October is the best time to catch the leaves changing in the largest forest of aspen trees in the country, so don’t miss out!

Upper Peninsula, Michigan

We just made the drive up the west side of Lake Michigan and already the colors were starting to change. Theres a few good places to stop right along the lake and make sure you check out the lookout before crossing the Macinaw Bridge

The Adirondacks, New York

Although the east coast is a little behind on the whole ‘you can live in a van’ phenomenon there are some great places you can van for free and enjoy the changing season. If you’re having troubles finding a place to stay you can always join Harvest Hosts and stay in an orchard! And fill up on apple cider donuts of course! Use our link to receive 15%  off.  We first built our van in Brooklyn NY and did a lot of test trips to this area.

Wisconsin

Along with the leaves its cranberry season! it seems the area celebrates the berries at this time and there is plenty of activity around them. While you’re in the area be sure to stop for a burger at Culvers, its the north east version of InNOut that nobody told you about! Make sure you get a root beer too!
